Antipodes Travel

We are Antipodes Travel, an inbound travel company based in Dunedin, on the South Island of New Zealand, specialising in holidays for French-speaking clients. Because we deal with offshore clientele if you’re not associated with the tourism industry, you might not have heard of us before. We glide below the radar, unlike other bigger household names – although we’re sure you’ve heard the saying ‘small but mighty’ before… in a nutshell, that’s us!

Founded in Dunedin in 2004 by a French couple, Sandrine and Yoann Feillet, the company was created for the purpose of meeting the growing demand of French-speaking people wanting to discover New Zealand with help from knowledgeable industry experts who speak their language.

Over the years the team has grown along with the market – a true melting pot with a multicultural mix of primarily French and Kiwi nationalities. Our expertise, too, has evolved along the way, to include trips to Australia and the Pacific Islands, with most of the team based in New Zealand and a new satellite office in Australia.

We now find ourselves evolving once more as current circumstances have ushered in a new era of domestic travel… tourism sure is a dynamic industry! Now we have the chance to share our passion with our fellow Kiwis, and with the help of our team in Australia, our cousins from across the ditch as well. With such beautiful countries at our fingertips, it’s hard not to be enthusiastic about discovering them, and we like to think that enthusiasm is pretty contagious.

Because we’re shooting for the moon, we thought Why not get Kiwis to the French Speaking Pacific Islands as well… After all, who else knows the French better than the French? Treat yourself with a trip to New Caledonia or Tahiti prepared by French Speaking specialists!

Above all, we really want to set ourselves apart from the rest – the inescapable but alluring French accent isn’t quite enough sometimes – and so in true Number 8 Wire fashion we came up with the idea of seeing New Zealand in a French way; learning the language we love and a bit of French culture, at the same time as discovering your own backyard. Just like a trip to Paris… except with the Sky Tower standing in as the Eiffel Tower, Te Papa instead of the Louvre, the Church of the Good Shepherd taking the place of Notre Dame and the Forsyth Barr Stadium instead of the Stade de France.

So journey with us, and discover New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Islands with a fresh, French twist – a certain je ne sais quoi that sets us apart from the rest.
